Living Entomology is a research book and an installation designed to reflect on the entomological frame and the display of scientific research on insects. Can we shift from researching through death to researching through life? No dead bodies, nor exotic, this entomological frame invites the local insect community to take part in the research. Smell, color and light are the invitations. Speed, movement, sound - they tell their life story in privacy. On the fabric, they appear and disappear, blurred, anonymous, as they navigate the frame. They have the freedom to show up - or not. Take a seat. Wait. Approach. Read. Be patient. Insects will come.
Living Entomology est un livre de recherche et une installation conçue pour réfléchir au cadre entomologique et à la présentation de la recherche scientifique sur les insectes. Peut-on passer d’une recherche basée sur la mort à une recherche basée sur la vie ? Pas de corps morts, ni exotiques ; ce cadre entomologique invite la communauté locale des insectes à participer à la recherche. Odeur, couleur et lumière sont des invitations. Vitesse, mouvement son - il racontent leur histoire de vie dans l’intimité. Sur le tissu, ils apparaissent et disparaissent, flous, anonymes, naviguant dans le cadre. Ils ont la liberté de se montrer - ou pas. Prenez un siège. Attendez. Approchez. Lisez. Soyez patient. Les insectes vont venir.
